Milestone 2026-08-27 06:23 Asia/Shanghai: Completed the 26H1 Linux localization batch. Added Chinese overrides for all 387 previously missing Linux-specific keys (advanced/error/remote/snapshot/shared-folder/tools/password/hotkey/memory strings). The override file now contains 1,443 unique keys; duplicate-key and placeholder validation pass. Rebuilt and installed the main dictionary (8,401 messages) at /usr/lib/vmware/messages/zh_CN/vmware.vmsg and the vmware-netcfg dictionary (326 messages) at /usr/lib/vmware/messages/zh_CN/.vmsg. Main extracted Linux coverage is 1,394/1,394 (100%); groups menus-window, network, preferences, vm-settings, wizard, and other-linux are all 100%. Restarted vmware-netcfg with LANG=zh_CN.UTF-8 and verified visually that its title, network table, mode options, DHCP/subnet/MTU controls, and buttons are Chinese. Updated README translation scope/coverage statement. Hardened install backup naming so rapid repeated installs no longer fail when two domains share the same timestamp. Seven unittest cases pass. Remaining known limitation: a few VMware home-screen labels are hard-coded in the binary and remain English (for example My Computer and parts of the Open a Virtual Machine tile); these are outside .vmsg resources and were intentionally not binary-patched. Next steps: on future VMware upgrades rerun scan and coverage, review new missing keys, rebuild from a legally obtained 17.6.4 zh_CN base, and reinstall both domains. Keep proprietary base dictionaries outside the repository.
