Milestone 2026-08-27: Created reusable project /home/nullix/code/VMZhCN. Implemented standard-library Python CLI vmzhcn.py with scan (extracts current VMware message IDs from vmware, libvmware.so, libvmwareui.so, optional libvmware-netcfg.so), build (merges a legally obtained 17.6.4 base with 26H1 overrides), duplicate-key and placeholder validation, component domains, timestamped root backups, restore, status, configure-user, switch zh_CN/en_US, and coverage reports. Added data/source/26H1-build-25388281-en.vmsg and data/linux-overrides-zh_CN.vmsg. Component domains: vmware installs vmware.vmsg; vmware-netcfg installs hidden .vmsg because the Linux network editor process uses an empty component name. Current 26H1 build 25388281 has main dictionary 8016 messages and netcfg dictionary 326 messages installed. Covered Preferences, New Virtual Machine Wizard, virtual hardware/device settings, menus/window actions, and network editor keys; current overall extracted coverage 77.7%, Linux-specific coverage 72.4%, target groups menus/network/preferences/vm-settings/wizard 100%. Verified actual Preferences and New VM Wizard screenshots are Chinese; verified Virtual Network Editor screenshot is Chinese after installing /usr/lib/vmware/messages/zh_CN/.vmsg. Verified switch en_US then zh_CN updates ~/.vmware/preferences and desktop launcher; final user locale is zh_CN. Tests: 7 unittest cases pass. Important issue: VMware hard-codes some home-screen labels (My Computer, Open a Virtual Machine) and some newer strings remain English; 385 Linux/other advanced or error messages remain for future translation. Backup directories created under /var/backups/vmzhcn; original 26H1 bundle remains at /home/nullix/下载/VMware-Workstation-Full-26H1-25388281.x86_64.bundle. Next session: continue translating missing advanced/error/remote strings using data/source current baseline; regenerate source and run coverage after VMware upgrades; keep base proprietary file external and do not redistribute it. |
